Investing in people, partnerships, and long-term resilience—New Generation Kherson
For New Generation Kherson, WHLF flexible funding provided an opportunity to strengthen the organisation from within while continuing to support communities affected by war. The funding enabled the organisation to invest in team wellbeing, strategic planning, fundraising, partnership development, and organisational capacity, creating a stronger foundation for its long-term work with communities across southern Ukraine.
According to New Generation Kherson: "For our organisation, 2025 became a year of resilience, rethinking, and internal strengthening. We continued supporting communities during a time of war, uncertainty, and funding challenges, while also investing in the systems that allow us to work sustainably. Flexible funding gave us the space to strengthen our organisational and technical capacity, develop new partnerships, diversify funding sources, and submit project proposals that will support our future work.
“We continued creating spaces where people from Kherson could stay connected despite displacement, supported civil society organisations to become more strategic and capable, invested in facilitators, activists, and local government representatives, and promoted participatory approaches to local decision-making. We also worked to strengthen skills, opportunities, and future prospects in the Kherson region through employment initiatives, labour market analysis, and educational programmes.
“At the same time, we invested in our team. As a relocated organisation working across different cities, we created opportunities for strategic planning, reflection, team building, and psycho-emotional support. These investments helped strengthen collaboration, prevent burnout, and reinforce a sense of belonging. Thanks to Oxfam’s support, we invested in our most valuable asset—people—and strengthened our ability to continue supporting communities under difficult conditions."
